After the announcement that they are pulling out of motor sport here in North America, Hyundai has just debuted a new WRC race car at the 2012 Paris Motor Show that will return the brand back to the rally racing league.
The car in question is a Hyundai i20, which is not available in the States. It is most closely related the Hyundai Accent, the car that Hyundai used in the WRC from the year 2000 until the brand’s exit from the league in 2003.
Technical specs are not offered for the car yet, but it is clear that aerodynamic design has been added to the small hatch, as well as more air intakes for whatever lives under the hood.
“The WRC also offers the most technologically-diverse challenge for an automotive manufacturer. Our participation will demonstrate Hyundai’s engineering excellence and durability, and will also help to enhance our passenger vehicles in future,” said Mark Hall, marketing director at Hyundai Motor Europe.
